Savannah, Georgia, October 26, 2013 – Antioch Foot & Ankle Group continues to support the Savannah community.  Tuesday, October 22nd, Antioch served as a Community Partner with Savannah State University in presenting a Diabetes Prevention Homecoming Health Fair.  The Health Fair provided resources, screening, prevention education, fruits and water for the campus and community.  The guest speaker for the Health Fair was Novo Nordisk Diabetes Ambassador – NBA Hall of Famer and Former Atlanta Hawk, Dominique Wilkins.

The 6’8” forward, who has diabetes, is the most celebrated player to ever put on a Hawks uniform.  He met earlier with the Savannah State Basketball Team and then talked candidly with the audience about living with diabetes.  Antioch Foot & Ankle Group specializes in the foot care of diabetic patients and provided educational literature about Diabetic Foot Care Tips and gave away Antioch tote bags, water bottles and koozies cup holders to the group.

Antioch Table Guest: left to right – Dr. Willie Epps, Andrew Foster, Drs. Jim and Evelyn Dandy, Jacqueline Tomlin, Neldra Flint, and Earnest Wilson, Savannah State Head Football Coach.

Thursday, October 24th, Antioch served as one of the sponsors for the 50th Anniversary Vision Quest Gala for the Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision (CBLV).  Dr. Jim Dandy, President and CEO of Antioch Foot and Ankle Group is a past Chairman of the Board and Executive Director for CBLV and maintains a strong commitment to the organization.

Dr. Dandy, who is blind, stated that diabetes is the leading cause of blindness, toe, leg and foot amputations.  Dr. Dandy, who is also diabetic, encourages persons with diabetes to take care of their eyes and their feet.  Antioch Foot & Ankle Group is here to serve and to conduct Project Power® Diabetes workshops, free of charge, in your church or organization.  Just call:
