May 2, 2015 – Dr. Jim Dandy, President and CEO of Antioch Foot & Ankle Group believes that giving back to the community that supports his business is the right thing to do. This year Antioch Foot & Ankle Group served as one of the sponsors for the Pre-Mother’s Day Extravaganza at the St. John Baptist Church “The Mighty Fortress”. The event was a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Dandy, who is diabetic, spoke to the packed auditorium about the loss of his relatives and his struggles with diabetes. He also told the audience, packed with persons with diabetes, that diabetes is the leading cause of blindness, toe, foot and leg amputations, but with proper care and treatment, a person can manage the treacherous condition and live. He encouraged everyone to continue to support the American Diabetes Association, who he said will one day find a cure. Antioch Foot & Ankle Group specializes in diabetic foot care and sponsors a monthly session called Talkin “Sugar” with Dandy. Dr. Dandy hosts the session and invites various speakers to talk about diabetes. The session is a Free service that Antioch sponsors for its patients and persons in the community that are diabetic. Dr. Dandy is an advocate for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and his Director of Marketing, Jacqueline Tomlin, is an Ambassador for the ADA. She is available to speak to groups, free of charge about living with diabetes. Not only does Antioch strive to be a “Blessing to your feet”, but to be a blessing to the Savannah community and the Low Country as well.
