ARE YOU DIABETIC? FOOTCARE TIPS

Neuropathy (nerve damage) is one of the most common complications of diabetes.  Untreated it can put you at greater risk of other dangerous complications of diabetes including toe, foot and leg amputation.  Neuropathy can lessen your ability to feel pain, heat, and cold.  This may preclude you from feeling a cut, blister or even a pebble in your shoe until it becomes infected.  Nerve damage may also cause changes in the shape of your toes and feet.  Ask your diabetic foot care specialist about therapeutic shoes and have regular foot care checkups.
